As we look forward to our upcoming Tour Season ~ exploring the lavender fields of Provence and the rolling vineyards of Tuscany ~ we know some of you may have questions regarding recent headlines from the Middle East...
At Adventures To Tuscany, your peace of mind is our priority. We want to provide some clear context on why these events remain a world away from our quiet corners of Europe...
1. Putting Distance into Perspective
The "Gulf Area" is geographically very distant from Western Europe. To put it into perspective:
Distance: Our tour regions in Provence and Tuscany are roughly 2,500 to 3,000 miles away from the center of the conflict.
Comparison: Traveling from our Villas in Provence or Tuscany to the Middle East is roughly equivalent to traveling from New York City to Los Angeles. Just as an event on the West Coast wouldn't impact your daily safety in New York, the localized conflict in the Gulf does not affect the safety or stability of the French and Italian countryside.
2. What You Can Expect on the Ground
For all practical purposes, your experience on our Tour will be no different than what you are seeing at home in North America.
Safety: The U.S. State Department maintains standard travel advisories for both France and Italy, which remain open, welcoming, and totally safe for all travelers, and by all accounts, is not expected to change in any way.
Daily Life: Life in our small villages continues as beautifully as ever. The markets are bustling, the cafes are open, and the amazing "slow life" remains uninterrupted.
3. Practical Implications: Inflation & The Gas Pump
While your physical safety is not a concern, global events can sometimes ripple through the global economy.
- Fuel Prices: Since our Tours, as you already know, are done Expedition Style, you’ll be managing your own rental cars and fuel... Much like here in the U.S., you may notice that gas prices could be slightly higher due to global market fluctuations. (For those of you who may be new to "driving in Europe" ~ their gas prices are always much higher than in the US). We suggest planning for this small variable just as you would for any road trip at home.
- Cost of Goods & Services: While not necessarily related to happenings in the Middle East, you may notice that inflation, just like here in North America, has made goods & services a bit more expensive than in years past, but rest assured; The price you paid for your Tour already provides for all of these things...
- Your Price is Guaranteed: Most importantly, unlike many Tour Operators, we don't increase your Tour price based on foreign currency exchange rates, inflation, or our costs of doing business. Despite any fluctuations in the price of local goods or services, your primary tour price will not change! Your Tour price was locked in & guaranteed the moment you paid your deposit... It's just one of things that makes us different, and we take pride in honoring that commitment so you can focus on the experience, not the exchange rate...
4. Our Commitment to You
Here at Adventures to Tuscany, we constantly monitor official updates from both the U.S. State Department and our local partners in France & Italy. We have lots of friends and business connections throughout the regions where we operate, and we communicate with them year-round. Their friendships and the information they share with us are invaluable. We have operated our Tours for over 25 years through many global cycles, and countless conflicts... We wouldn’t be heading over there ourselves this summer if we didn't feel completely confident in the safety and joy of the region!
25 Years of Perspective: Navigating the Global Landscape
When you’ve been leading tours through the heart of Europe for a quarter of a century, you develop a unique perspective on the world... We often tell our guests: The headlines change, but the magic of the French and Italian countryside remains constant.
Over the last 25 years, Adventures To Tuscany has successfully navigated every major global cycle. We have learned through decades of experience how to separate "headline anxiety" from the reality on the ground in Provence and Tuscany.
A Proven Track Record of Resilience
Since our founding in 2000, we have safely operated our Tours through:
- 9-11 The World Trade Center & Pentagon Tragedies (2001)
- The War in Afghanistan (2001)
The Iraq War (2003)
The Second Lebanon War (2006)
The Global Financial Crisis (2008)
The Arab Spring Revolutions (2011)
The Syrian Civil War (2011–Present)
The Annexation of Crimea (2014)
The Rise of ISIS (2014–2019)
The Russia-Ukraine War (2022–Present)
The Israel-Hamas Conflict (2023–Present)
The Recent Iran Conflict (2026)
Navigating the "Big Two"
In our history, only two events truly paused the world of travel, and we successfully navigated both with our community of travelers:
September 11th: We had a Tour group in Tuscany just 3 months before 9-11, and as the industry transformed, we helped our guests adapt to a new era of global security while maintaining the spirit of adventure.
The Global Pandemic: We steered our business and our registered guests through the quietest years in travel history by using what we call The Golden Rule... honoring our contracts & commitments, totally refunding all tour guests, and returning to the trails of Europe the moment it was safe to do so.
Why This Matters for You;
If we have learned anything since 2000, it is that there is rarely a "perfectly quiet" year in global news. If travelers waited for a period of total global silence, these beautiful village markets and sun-drenched vineyards would never, ever be seen...
We wouldn’t be heading over to Provence ourselves this June, and preparing for Tuscany in September ~ if we didn't feel 100% confident. We’ve managed the logistics through much more turbulent times than these... and we are ready to manage them for you now.
The Magic Awaits...
Beyond the headlines and the maps, lies the reason we do what we do: the sheer, restorative magic of the European countryside... Imagine waking up in a magnificent, rustically elegant, centuries-old Villa as the sun crests over the Luberon hills or the Tuscan vines. Picture yourself gathered around a long table for an extraordinary meal prepared by our private chefs, the air filled with laughter and the sound of local wine being poured at our open bars... From the expertise of our private guides to the "only-with-us" unique experiences we’ve spent 25 years perfecting, these tours are designed to be a sanctuary of beauty and connection... We aren’t just traveling; we are immersing ourselves in a lifestyle where the world’s noise fades away, replaced by the simple, magnificent joy of a sunset over the Mediterranean or a perfect plate of handmade pasta. The table is set, the Villa is ready, and the magic is waiting for you...
We can’t wait to share a glass of wine and the incredible sunsets with you soon.
