Sunday morning at Château du Soleil begins with the gentle hum of the Juice & Coffee Bar for the early risers, followed by a full breakfast buffet to fuel a day of discovery. This is a day dedicated to the "Jewels of the Luberon" ~ where the golden stone of Gordes meets the fiery reds of Roussillon.
Morning: The "Acropolis" of Provence & Sacred Lavender
Our day begins in Gordes, a famous village so perfectly perched on its cliffside that it feels like a movie set. (it's actually been in a quite a few, as well as "Emily Paris") To get your bearings, Tommy and Terese will lead a short orientation walk through the labyrinthine of cobblestone alleys... Since it’s Sunday, the main square is often alive with a vibrant craft market ~ the perfect place to find local treasures before we "cut you loose" for your own exploration and shopping.
We’ll gather again outside at the historic Château de Gordes before heading to the iconic Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque. We’ve timed this for the ultimate photo stop among the world-famous lavender fields... You’ll also have time to wander through their amazing bookstore and gift shop, where the monks offer everything from essential oils & perfumes to local honey.
Midday: The Colors of Roussillon
From the cool grey stone of the Abbey, we transition to the brilliant palette of Roussillon. Our first stop is a quick exploration of the Ochre Canyon, where the trails wind through surreal orange and red landscapes.
After a quick orientation walk through the village, you’re free to wander! Whether you want to browse the art galleries or find a sun-drenched bistro for lunch on your own, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at a leisurely pace. We’ll meet back near the parking lot for a beautiful scenic drive through the Provençal countryside as we return to the Estate.
Afternoon: Relaxation or "Le Cours de Pâtisserie"
Back at the Villa, the late afternoon is all about "Provençal time." You can retreat to the pool for a refreshing drink & a swim or find a quiet corner of the Estate to relax.
For those with a sweet tooth, Chef Fabien and Coralie will once again be hosting their optional Le Cours de Pâtisserie! This is so much more than a cooking class! This 1.5 to 2-hour French Pastry Masterclass merged with a Champagne party is an absolute highlight! For €50 per person, you’ll learn the "hands on" secrets of making a delicate French dessert while enjoying an unlimited Champagne Bar and even a little dancing to French music! You’ll even get to take home your very own Le Cours de Pâtisserie logo apron as a souvenir of your culinary triumph. Evening: Celebration Under the Stars
As the golden hour settles over the Luberon, the celebration begins. we'll start with Happy Hour and appetizers on The Terrace.
To cap off a perfect Sunday, we’ll gather for another of Chef Fabien and Coralie’s magnificent Alfresco Dinner Parties. There is truly nothing like the magic of sharing a meal and a laugh under the stars at Château du Soleil.
The Wine, Champagne, and Beer Bars will of course be open all throughout the evening’s festivities! This week of Provençal Adventure is young... and we're just getting started!
